How can I help?
I have been spending a lot of time trying to carve out a niche service or find a particular market, while pitching this to Toowoomba business owners. I have been networking and blogging, hustling to market my product, and I will probably keep doing that somewhat, but I have also realised something that is either a bit profound, or I have just been over-thinking it… As a consultant you don’t need to hear my elevator pitch, in fact, you probably don’t need to hear much from me at all (at least in terms of what I think your business needs when I haven’t gotten to know you yet). I should be asking YOU a really important question.
“How can I help?”
Don’t get me wrong, I am very well prepared to help you get compliant for the psychosocial safety aspects of the WHS Act 2011. I am all over ISO 45003. I am experienced in diversity and accessibility. I have degrees in Psychology, International Relations, Plant Science and Chinese (Mandarin) to draw on and a decent amount of research experience. I am an engaging educator.
None of this is as important as me taking the time to listen to you about what your biggest concerns are for your business and being able to tell you honestly if I can help or not.
I have had one client so far, and I started this business because he came to me with a problem he knew I could help with. It happened not that long after my big sister asked for some advice for our family business. It occurred to me that I have some strong skillsets and attributes that make me suited to assisting with an outside perspective that can apply my knowledge and experience to looking at concerns you have in a different way. I have grown up in a family business and I am extremely sensitive to the needs of small-to-medium business owners in a rural community. I know the importance of reputation and the value of being connected in the community. I see the profound impact such businesses have on those around them too.
No matter what services I am focused on, my commitment to small and medium local businesses is this: if you need something and you think I might be able to assist, let me ask you, “How can I help?”.
